Thanks for the clarification.

When I read a book based off something pre-existing, I like the lore. So either way, I do hope for a good amount of lore. That is to say: I like my action, but not at the expense of good continuity.

Whoever writes it, I hope they can combine good storytelling with good continuity.

Robert Jordan... because then you know GW2 would be filled with annoying female characters, would never end, and whenever you bought the latest expansion pack, you would totally forget everything that happened before.

King Symeon hasn't been that active except to mod *move things, delete things, approve things* so he might not know the more recent stuff that much. Not saying he doesn't but who knows.

Turning some fan-based stories into canon would always be an interesting thing. But don't have them in charge of writing canon stuff.

That goes for me with my fan-fiction as well. As much as I'd love to be a part of ANet's Lore Team, I'd be biased in what I make unless I actually am a member of ANet.

Like Quintus Antonious on GWO - no longer active but he loved the Mursaat *he was the one who started the Mursaat Rally* and he would probably make a novel about the Mursaat being aliens from another world with Odran being a Mursaat and having their race do a 180 after GW1.

Robert Jordan died some time ago, before finishing his very own "Wheel of Time".
David Gemmell is also dead. A pity, I loved his novels.

Regardless which author picks up the franchise... do you really expect a good fantasy novel coming out of this?

Is it not Bobby Stein and some other writers plus Jeff Grubb, plus whoever is in ANet's writing team the near choice?

The gods of Tyria and most of Prophecies was influenced by someone called Jess Lebow, who left the team before Factions.

Ree Soesbee wrote the backstory for GW2, that was released in PC Gamer already quite some time ago.

Anyways, I would prefer good dialogue in GW2. GW1 started out quite well, with lots of holes, but later on went on to create too many pop culture references and repetitive, good natured humor.

Prophecies set up a very good background for the story to develop, but Factions followed with the trashy Shiro Tagachi storyline. Not so bad per se, but the dialogue and story did not really kick in. Nightfall was much better in this regard. It was also more of an issue to transport an interesting storyline from paper into another medium, a computer game.

Anyways, someone of their writing team should start writing a GW novel. As I am personally not a fan of Jeff Grubb (sorry), I would like to read something from Ree Soesbee. Bobby Stein (or was it John Stumme?) seems to be well read, but he could not resist the urge to make a reference to pop culture every time it was possible.
